An Introduction

Life Events

There are certain life events that we want to mark in a special way. Some are occasions of celebration, like weddings and Christenings; others can be of those of sadness like funerals.

Everyone is welcome to have their child Christened. Your child is precious to you and precious to God. At baptism you make a decision to start your child on a journey of faith. The Church and Godparents support the family and the child in this decision. The Church believes that God loves everyone, so anyone can have their child baptized regardless of their background.

Getting married is one of the most serious decision we make in life.As well as being a big commitment it has impact on family, friends and the whole of society. Marriage means that your choices will always include another person in partnership with you – through the good times and the tough times. But you also invite the blessing and guidance of a loving God into your relationship.

A funeral marks the close of a human life on earth. It is the opportunity for friends and family to express their grief,to give thanks for the life which has now completed its journey in this world.

For pastoral support in emergency or in bereavement, and for the arrangement of a funeral, the Vicar can be contacted directly (see Homepage).
