Visiting St Hilda's

Our Church is open daily for private prayer or as a quiet space for rest and reflection.  Do come and visit us.

At St Hilda’s all services are shared Anglican/Methodist and the differences between the denominations has ceased to be of significance to the congregation and this has led to a flourishing of a rich variety of worship styles.  Services are held by Methodist Local Preachers, by Readers and by the Vicar or the Methodist Minister.

St Hilda’s is licensed for both Methodist and Anglican denominations. The two churches are cared for by a Joint Church Council (J.C.C.) with representatives from both Anglican and Methodist members.  The J.C.C. is chaired alternately by the Superintendent Minister and the Vicar, which successfully draws together the different traditions.

We usually meet at 9.30am each Sunday.  The services alternate between being Anglican or Methodist led.

Our usual pattern is:

First Sunday of the month - All Age Worship, an interactive service with recorded music, bible readings, prayer and sometimes Holy Communion.

Second and Fourth Sunday of the month - Methodist led morning praise.

Third Sunday of the month - Holy Communion according to The Church of England Common Worship

Fifth Sunday of the month - Morning Praise followed by refreshments.

There are also occasional services in Wombleton Village Hall such as the Palm Sunday Procession Service, Remembrance Sunday and a Christmas Carol Service.
We have a weekly prayer group, a home group, lent courses, and seasonal Messy Church. These are also run ecumenically and joined by people from across the benefice and wider Ryedale area.
A monthly Communion Service and other Services are held in Omega Oak Barn, the residential home in the village of Nawton.
We are a Fairtrade Church and we are very welcoming and supportive of our Church family and communities.
