Visiting St Saviour's Church

The Church is open daily and visitors are most welcome to come in and feel the peace of the place, and perhaps offer a prayer.

We hold a service every Sunday, alternating between an evening service on the first and third Sundays of the month, usually at 6.30pm, and a Communion on the second and fourth Sundays at 9.30am. In winter the evening service may be held earlier so please check our services page for details.

As Christians our full purpose in life is to worship God, not just on Sundays but every day of our lives.  When we gather together, we sing hymns accompanied by an organ, listen to scripture, gather around the Lord's table to receive Holy Communion and we offer prayers for our own needs and the needs of the world.  To read more about what to expect visit the Church of England website.

The service generally lasts about an hour and our Church community will greet you to make you feel welcome and ensure you have everything you need to join in worship with us.

During the Church year we hold other kinds of worship that follow patterns from Common Worship, such as Mothering Sunday, Harvest Festival, Remembrance Sunday and Carol Concerts including a very popular village event run with The Star Inn.

Like many rural churches we have no running water (so unfortunately no toilet facilities) but this does not stop us from offering hospitality.  There is often hot drinks and cake after the evening service so we can enjoy some social time together.  More extensive refreshments are offered at other services and we invite the village to eat and drink with us.

Marrying in church is personal, meaningful, spiritual and beautiful.  Many couples chose to get married or have a marriage blessing in our lovely church as there is fantastic hospitality in the village with two very special reception venues just over the road, The Pheasant Hotel and The Star Inn.

Why marry in church? Churches are special places and there are some things about a church wedding that you just can’t get anywhere else.  To find out more look at the Church of England's Your Church Wedding website or contact us.
